Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis is becoming a common complaint relating to foot pain.  Pain is usually felt in the heel and bottom of the foot.  The condition may come on slowly or be caused by injury during physical activity, such as sports, dance or even walking. Typically the feet hurt when first getting out of bed or after sitting in a chair for some time. The inside of the heel and/or the arch of the foot may also hurt.

Unlike other areas of our body, it is almost impossible to completely rest the foot, i.e. keep it non-weight bearing, while healing occurs. The pain of Plantar Fasciitis on rising in the morning comes from the body weight pressing down on the inflammation which overnight has been allowed to expand (as our blueprint for healing dictates). Pressure on the inflamed area may cause the sufferer to hobble, further putting pressure on other tendons/ muscles in the foot - and thus prolonging the condition. After a while the pain subsides due to dispersal of the
inflammation, but returns after any further foot elevation. The body weight is quite considerable compared to the surface area of the heel that takes the weight. It is this weight-bearing pressure that delays the healing.

Reflexology uses a different type of deep pressure to the underlining tissues reducing the inflammation and allowing the body to promote repair to those underlying tissues more quickly.

When regular Reflexology, MFR and HOME SELF CARE are done, you could see reduction in pain from 2 weeks to 4 months.  So much depends on the nature and severity of the situation and most importantly - HOW YOU TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.
